The Martanisha Robinson Arts & Activism Award is Now Available!!
The Selection Process
****Application Deadline is April 30th****
From the total number of applicants, the Arts and Activism Scholarship Committee will select finalists to be invited to participate in round 2 of the selection process for an audition/portfolio presentation TBA. Presentations will occur in 15 minute intervals beginning at 10 AM and concluding no later than 4 PM. An alternative date TBA, will be available for conflicts related to mandatory school functions or work schedules between the hours of 5 PM and 8 PM. Alternative slots will be limited and offered on first serve basis according to prior notification.
All applicants will be notified of their candidacy via email on Sunday, May 15th, 2022.
Auditions and portfolio presentations will be limited to four minutes each, followed by a discussion of up to ten minutes with Scholarship Committee members.
A performer may sing, dance, act, play a musical instrument, recite poetry or perform spoken word or perform any combination of art forms (e.g. sing and dance) as long as the audition does not exceed four minutes. A CD player and laptop will be available.
Art portfolios may include show programs and photos, visual display boards, letters of appreciation or commendation, awards, certificates of appreciation, illustrations and/or memorabilia that portray their artistry, ability or of evidence of volunteerism. A DVD player and laptop will be available.
In cases in which portfolio materials are extremely limited, the Scholarship Committee will rely heavily on the discussion portion of the meeting and reference letters from teachers received earlier in the application packet.
Specific audition and portfolio presentation times on TBA will be assigned according to time of arrival. Time slots must be scheduled prior to attendance.
Winners will be announced June 12th, 2022.
**Winners and their families will be invited to a private Awards Ceremony in July!
